Shooting (pictures of) the moon with a digital camera

(Tue Apr 14 2020 00:00:00 GMT+0300 (Eastern European Summer Time)) Taking pictures of the moon is challenging because of the huge contrast between the dark sky, and the brightness of the moon. The automatic exposure calculation will be completely wrong causing the moon to be an over-exposed blob of light, plus the camera might have a hard time with autofocus. The trick is to remember (or learn) some old school tips and tricks, and to put the camera in fully manual mode so you can get things just right.
