You want your own Dalek to grace your front porch and let everyone in the neighborhood know who you are and that you mean business. But you're on a student budget and cannot afford fancy schmancy materials to make a Dalek, especially given the price of Dalektanium these days. It's gotten ridiculous now that The Doctor destroyed Skaro. We're left instead to using cardboard and plywood and old CD's to make a thing that looks like a Dalek, and doesn't kill the planet, and saves a lot of money.
